The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine provides the majority of educational offerings to our fellows through a mix of classroom-based small group discussions, simulated cases, and hands-on patient care. External faculty may be invited to participate in fellow education when appropriate given the specific topic. Educational experiences prioritize evidence-based practice, providing fellows with the foundational knowledge necessary for success on the pediatric critical care board exam while also emphasizing real world applicability in caring for a wide spectrum of critically ill children.

Fellow as Instructor
Fellows are expected to develop skills in teaching that can be applied at the bedside (i.e., with families, clinical staff, residents) or with colleagues (i.e., in a conference setting). They practice these skills (and receive deliberate feedback) by serving as instructors for:
- Case Conference
- Journal Club
- Scholarly Progress Report
- PICU Resident Conference
- Division Morbidity & Mortality
- PALS/BLS (all pediatric critical care fellows receive certification as instructors and help lead PALS classes to clinical staff)
