The Department of Pediatrics is committed to fostering the professional growth of its faculty through a multitude of development opportunities. Dedicated academic affairs staff within the department collaborate with faculty members on professional development, academic advancement, career track options, and promotion coordination. This support extends to over 175 faculty on the tenure track, clinical health sciences (CHS) track, and clinician-teacher track.
As a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics, you can count on our partnership to not only coordinate all appointment and promotion packets, but also guide and assist promotion candidates in strategically developing the documentation required for a successful promotion dossier. Each packet is carefully reviewed for quality and clarity, while ensuring that all necessary components are skillfully presented.
To schedule an individual meeting to plan for promotion, please contact Kristin Determan at kdeterman@pediatrics.wisc.edu. Kristii Horn is available for assistance with writing and editing; she can be contacted at khorn3@wisc.edu.
One of the best ways to support faculty growth and development is through a robust mentorship program. Academic Affairs staff partner with mentor committees to ensure that all members are updated with changes impacting their mentees. Mentor committees gather at least twice annually to provide assistant professors with valuable and effective guidance with regard to promotion.
