Pediatrics Grand Rounds Speaker Nomination Process

Pediatrics Grand Rounds Speaker Nomination Process – Virtual Sessions

  • The Pediatrics Grand Rounds schedule is filled annually by members of the Department of Pediatrics
  • Annually, Division Leads are given a $500.00 honorarium to use to invite a virtual Pediatrics Grand Rounds speaker.
  • Members of the Department of Pediatrics can nominate a virtual speaker by completing the Pediatrics Grand Rounds Speaker Nomination Form. This form is reviewed by Pediatric Grand Rounds Committee, departmental experts on the suggested topic and links/bios are reviewed. The Professional Development team will be in contact with you regarding your speaker nomination. Nominated speakers who have been vetted and accepted will receive a $500.00 virtual honorarium.
  • Dates are filled based on speaker availability and on what other topics are occurring around the same timeframe. Currently, the grand rounds calendar is booked a year out, which is typical across SMPH departments and nationally across institutions.

Visiting Professor Program – In-Person Sessions

Starting July 1, 2025, the Department of Pediatrics will facilitate up to four one-day visiting professorships per academic year. These professorships can be hosted by any member of the department who completes an application. Prior to applying, the visiting professorship must be approved by the applicant’s division head. Applications will be reviewed by the Visiting Professorship Committee and granted based on the proposal for the visit and the needs of the department. If you would like to invite a speaker for an in-person grand rounds, the Visiting Professor Program is the only way to achieve this starting July 1, 2025.

The application for the 2025-2026 academic year have closed and the four speakers have been chosen. For more information, visit the Visiting Professor Program website.
