Three department members among this year’s UW Health Physician Excellence Awards recipients

Each year, UW Health recognizes its most skilled and dedicated physicians with its Physician Excellence Awards. These awards recognize individuals who demonstrate exceptional skills in clinical practice, education, and leadership along with a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of UW Health.

Three Department of Pediatrics faculty members were among the awardees who were honored in a May 3 ceremony at Blackhawk Country Club:

  • Jonathan Fliegel, MD, associate professor, Division of Hospital Medicine, received the Clinical Educator Award, which honors an outstanding educator with more than five years of service with an emphasis on teaching residents and medical students, as well as other interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
  • Cathy Lee-Miller, MD, assistant professor, Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant, received the Rising Star Clinical Educator Award, which honors an outstanding educator with two to five years of service with an emphasis on teaching residents and medical students, as well as other interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
  • Emily Ruedinger, MD, MEd, assistant professor, Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, received the Rising Star Leadership Award, which honors a physician with two to five years of service who demonstrates significant and measurable contributions to UW Health and leadership excellence outside of their department and in institution-wide work.
