Professional Activities

Dr. Jonathan (Jon) Fliegel is associate professor (CHS) in the Division of Hospital Medicine. He is the associate director of the pediatric hospital medicine fellowship program. Nationally, Dr. Fliegel has served as an editor of PREP Hospital Medicine since its inception. He has a long-standing interest in employing, teaching, and evaluating skills in evidence-based medicine. In addition, he has presented numerous workshops, journal clubs, and classes for medical students, residents, and faculty locally and nationally. He has also created and led faculty development workshops addressing skills and strategies to enhance clinical teaching. He has received numerous awards for teaching from medical students and residents in the Departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine. Throughout his career, Fliegel has helped establish educational and clinical programs in community and academic hospitals and has provided care in inpatient and outpatient settings, newborn nurseries, neonatal intensive care, and inpatient general care units.

Clinical Interests

Fliegel’s clinical interests and expertise are in the clinical care of hospitalized patients and in all levels of medical education. Residents from the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health presented Fliegel with a Clinical Teaching award in 2022.
