Victoria Nicksic and David Allen receive Wisconsin DHS grant to support newborn screening program

Victoria Nicksic, MD, clinical instructor, and David Allen, MD, professor and chief, both in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes, were awarded $25,000 by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Wisconsin Newborn Screening Ongoing Clinical Care and Special Dietary Treatment Program. The purpose of the program is to help ensure that all Wisconsin newborns are screened, diagnosed, and treated for certain conditions. Nicksic and Allen’s work within the division provides comprehensive subspecialty consultation and longitudinal care for infants identified with congenital hypothyroidism and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Their commitment to evidence-based practice to ensure delivery of timely, effective, and patient-centered services will directly support the goals of the Wisconsin Newborn Screening Program. This one-year project will begin in July 2026 and will continue through June 2027.
