During Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 13–17, the UW Health Patient Safety leadership team honored providers who show exemplary leadership and go above and beyond to improve patient safety in their work areas. Michael Wilhelm, MD, associate professor, Division of Critical Care, was one of 36 UW Health providers who received a UW Health Safety Leadership Award. Wilhelm’s nomination for the award listed his many strengths in this area: “Dr. Wilhelm continuously looks for opportunities to keep our patients safe in some of the most critical areas of our pediatric system of care. He demonstrates this through volunteering to lead our weekly hospital safety huddles, incorporating aspects of safety in PICU Quality Committee, and through very active participation in the hospital safety council.”
