Title: Early Childhood Health Consultation: An Innovative Approach to Support Early Childhood Educators in Meeting the Health and Safety Needs of Children
Session Overview: As health care professionals, you may often be faced with this question from families: “When can my child return to child care?” This question is central to not only the challenges that health systems face around access and utilization, but also to the domino effects that occur when families and early childhood care providers go through when young children are unnecessarily excluded from care due to illness. During this session, the Early Childhood Health Consultation team will explore a shared decision-making approach to this public health concern and introduce our program, which healthcare professionals should be aware of as a free resource.
Speakers:
Dipesh Navsaria, MPH, MSLIS, MD, professor, Division of General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
Maria Morgen, MPH, assistant director, Early Childhood Health Consultation, University of Wisconsin School of Human Ecology & Wisconsin Department of Children & Families
Kristin Gabriel, RN, registered nurse, ECHC Nurse Health Consultant
