Training Timeline

Clinical Activity Inpatient service: 8 months (or 32 weeks)

Outpatient clinic: 1 half-day clinic per week

Heavy inpatient service time and 1 half-day clinic per week

 Inpatient service: 2 months (or 8 weeks)

Continuity clinic: ½ day per week

 Inpatient service: 2 months (or 8 weeks)

Continuity clinic: ½ day per week
Research 16 weeks of planning

  • Short Course in Clinical Research (ethics, study design, scientific writing and presentation skills)
  • Hands-on research program (attend presentations, visit mentor labs, write preliminary research proposals & grant, if applicable)
 9 months (or 36 weeks)

  • Biostatistics and Medical Informatics (541).
  • UW ICTR Clinical Research Study Design workshop series
  • “Scientific Manuscript” and “Grant Writing”
  • Training in statistics, medical ethics, scientific and grantwriting occurs through ICTR class offerings.
  • Under supervision of a mentor (daily interactions and weekly lab meetings)
  • Scholarly Oversight Committee meetings 2x/year for advice and evaluation of fellow
 9 months (or 36 weeks)

  • Continued research ethics training
  • Continued scientific manuscript and grantwriting (workshops required)
