Last month, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health introduced a new website dedicated to showcasing the transformative impact of arts-based practices in health care. This platform is designed to celebrate and advance the intersection of medicine and the humanities, offering a dynamic space for students, faculty, and staff to contribute and engage. Collective for Humanism, Arts, and Storytelling in Medicine (CHASM) is led by a six-member board of directors, which includes Jessica Babal, MD, associate professor and interim division chief (academic), Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Babal co-created the Introduction to Humanities elective for medical students and is the director of the Listen In! Storytelling Collaborative, which develops storytelling programming and research.
