The Arnold P. Gold Foundation champions humanism in health care, which it defines as compassionate, collaborative, and scientifically excellent care. It sponsors the Gold Humanism Honor Society along with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. The award recognizes one medical student and one faculty member from each medical school that participates in the program for clinical excellence and compassion in their clinical practice. This year, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health nominated Britt Allen, MD, associate professor, Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, to receive a 2023 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Gold Foundation.
