Ann Allen receives award to pursue QI project on improving discharge planning and care transitions for substance-exposed infants and their mothers

Dr. Ann Allen.The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Perinatal Health and Substance Use Virtual Learning Collaborative awarded $12,000 in funding to Ann Allen, MD, associate professor, Division of Hospital Medicine and Complex Care. The grant will fund a 26-week quality improvement initiative focused on improving discharge planning and care transitions for substance-exposed infants and their mothers. Project goals will involve implementation of evidence-based practices to strengthen safe transitions from hospital to home, enhance communication and therapeutic alliances with mothers affected by substance use disorder, and improve linkage to community-based services.
