The mission of UW Health’s Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Department is to maintain the highest integrity, quality, and completeness of medical records. Tom Brazelton III, MD, MPH, FAAP, professor in the Division of Critical Care and the department’s vice chair of quality, serves as medical director of the UW Health CDI Department. Last month he received the Superhero in Scrubs CDI Team Award in recognition of his dedication to CDI.
In a letter to Brazelton announcing the award, the CDI team wrote: “You have advised us when we struggled to write our guidelines, provided clinical expertise for our education, and given a physician perspective for our reviews and queries. The proficiency of CDI at UW Health is in no small part due to your work. In addition to your indispensable assistance with the technical aspects of CDI, you provide all your expertise with a sense of humility and kindness.”
