Nicholas Hess, PhD, Wins SCRMC Postdoctoral Training Award

Congratulations to Nicholas Hess, PhD, postdoctoral research associate in the laboratory of mentor Christian Capitini, MD, professor, Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant, who was recently awarded a one-year traineeship from the University of Wisconsin Stem Cell & Regenerative Center (SCRMC). In addition to providing unique, interdisciplinary training for future leaders in stem cell and regenerative medicine research, the award provides one year of salary support to recipients. This support will help Hess pursue his project, “Identifying Mechanisms of Human T cell Activation Leading to Graft-Vs-Host-Disease (GVHD).” His goal is to investigate the mechanism(s) of GVHD development by studying human T cell-specific immune reactions that occur post-transplant.
