ICTR awards Pelin Cengiz a 2024 Translational Basic and Clinical Pilot Award

Pelin Cengiz, MD, professor, Division of Critical Care, and co-PI Qiang Chang, PhD, professor of medical genetics and neurology and director of the Waisman Center, received a 2024 Translational Basic and Clinical Pilot Award from the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). Their project, “Sexually Differential Role of Ntrk2 in Hippocampal Somatostatin Interneurons,” will study the sexually differential role of the tyrosine kinase B receptor agonist 7,8-dihydroxyflavone on the hippocampal electrophysiology and fear memory as long-term functional outcomes in neonatal mice following hypoxia ischemia related brain injury.

ICTR awarded 11 Translational Basic and Clinical (TBC) pilot awards for 2024, each in the amount of $50,000. The grant period for the award began September 1 and will run for one year.
