Tess Jewell receives GLMA Early Career Achievement Award

MD-MPH student Tess Jewell was awarded the GLMA Early Career Achievement Award during the organization’s annual conference, which was held September 30–October 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina. GLMA is a national organization committed to ensuring health equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) communities and equality for LGBTQ+ health professionals in their work and learning environments. The award recognizes those who have dedicated their work to advancing LGBTQ+ health and their pursuit of health equity for all. Jewell has been working with Jennifer Rehm, MD, associate professor, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes, since June 2021, primarily on a retrospective chart review exploring the experiences of pediatric patients with Variations in Sex Characteristics. Jewell is also involved in projects related to gender-affirming care with the PATH clinic team. She has been working with Elizabeth Petty, MD, professor, Division of Genetics and Metabolism, since May 2022 on multiple projects related to LGBTQ+ health in medical education.
