Professional Activities
Dr. Therese Woodring is assistant professor (CHS) in the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Transplant & Cellular Therapy. She is a physician in the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy group and collaborates closely with investigators in immunology and genetics. Woodring serves as a co-principal investigator on studies through the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC) and site principal investigator for the Northa American Aplastic Anemia Consortium (NAPAAC). She is a member of the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT), the Clinical Immunology Society (CIS), and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
Clinical Interests
Woodring cares for children with blood disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, inherited predisposition syndromes, and diseases requiring hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Her clinical practice includes caring for patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) and other non-malignant disorders for which transplantation may offer a definitive cure.
Research Interests
Woodring’s research focuses on improving the diagnosis of inborn errors of immunity through genetic analysis, functional validation of disease-causing variants, and early detection strategies. Her work seeks to help more patients receive a molecular diagnosis that can guide precision therapies and curative treatments. She is also exploring whether immune disorders can be identified before symptoms develop.
