Professional Activities
Dr. Serena Wagoner is assistant professor (CHS) in the Division of Child Protection. She currently serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics Council of Abuse and Neglect (COCAN) policy subcommittee. She is interested in advocating for children through statewide child welfare legislation and policy.
Clinical Interests
Wagoner is a child abuse pediatrician focused on providing medical evaluations for children with injuries concerning physical abuse. She also evaluates children with concerns for child sexual abuse, neglect, and human trafficking. She is particularly interested in providing education on the medical findings seen in child abuse and fostering collaborative relationships with community partners.
Research Interests
Wagoner’s current scholarly work is focused on the link between human violence and animal violence. She is also interested in investigating social media and internet-facilitated child abuse.
