Izzy Loertscher, MD
Credentials: St. George’s University School of Medicine
Position title: PGY-2 Resident
Dr. Elizabeth (Izzy) Loertscher grew up in Moscow, Idaho, and attended Brigham Young University–Idaho, where she completed her undergraduate degree in biology with human emphasis. She decided to dedicate herself to pediatrics and neonatology because she believes that babies are the most miraculous and wonderful patient population; the field also relates to her interest in intensive medicine and procedures. She loves teaching and explaining medicine, and she especially enjoys helping parents understand medical care for their children. Loertscher also enjoys working in clinical trials because there is a lot of unique work yet to be done for infants as a neglected research population. She is fascinated with neonatal occupational therapy and lactation science and has a profound respect for palliative care. When she’s not in the hospital, Loertscher enjoys gardening, hiking, cycling, travelling and trying new foods, children’s museums, and finding fun children’s books.
