Lucas Jacintho, MD

Dr. Lucas Jacintho grew up in a small town in São Paulo, Brazil, where he spent some time on a farm. He received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Campinas before moving to São Paulo to attend medical school. In pediatrics, he hopes to have the opportunity to be a child’s first contact with health care and show them how important it is. Their energy and optimism motivate him to keep pursuing his own goals. He is particularly interested in how the immune system responds to infections and how to translate that into better care. He also enjoys working with data and research, especially when it connects back to patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Jacintho enjoys spending time with his partner, trying new restaurants, hiking, and exploring national parks. But on a day-to-day basis, he also enjoys playing games and watching TV shows.

Why Madison?

“Madison feels like a place where I can work hard but also disconnect and recharge, especially with the lakes, outdoor spaces, and seasonal changes. I really liked the residency vibe during interviews. People seemed genuinely happy and supportive, and I felt it was a place where I could thrive. I was also very interested in the PSTP track and the wide range of research opportunities and mentors available.”
