Professional Activities
Dr. Emily Farrell is scientist II in the Division of Cardiology. She is a member of the American Heart Association and has presented her work at both local and national conferences.
Research Interests
Farrell’s research interests are in the early cellular and molecular signaling that leads to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). She works with both mouse models and human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived engineered cardiac tissue models of HCM that contain mutations in the sarcomeric protein, cardiac myosin binding protein C (cMyBP-C). cMyBP-C is responsible for almost half of HCM cases in which a mutation is identified. One goal of Farrell’s research is to identify protein targets for early therapeutic intervention.
