Matthew Harer, MD, associate professor, Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery, was recently awarded funding from the Meriter Foundation in the amount of $7,485. Harer’s project, “Establishing a Neonatal Family Research Advisory Council (N-FRAC),” will establish a council to review research proposals, protocols, consent forms, and research study outcomes for neonates, with the goal of engaging pediatric patients, parents, and families in the development and delivery of research. The council will consist of family members/caregivers of current or former NICU or nursery patients, former NICU patients, and community members involved in birthing and neonatal care. Bernadette Gillick, PhD, MSPT, PT, associate professor, Division of Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation Medicine, will serve as co-investigator on the project. The project will begin soon and continue through 2024.
