Jami Simpson, graduate medical education (GME) program manager with the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship, was recently selected for an Excellence in Fellowship Program Administration Award from the Association for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors. This award recognizes program administrators for outstanding contributions to fellowship program administration. Simpson developed a program that offers individual coaching sessions for GME trainees during work hours. Trainees self-volunteer for coaching or are referred by mentors, program directors, or colleagues. Since launching the program in 2022 in the Department of Medicine, Simpson has expanded the program to provide coaching to anyone in the UW GME community and has coached more than 70 GME trainees. In addition to her work with the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship — a program co-directed by the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics — Simpson administers the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship in the Department of Medicine.
