HuiChuan Lai and team awarded NIH supplement

HuiChuan Lai, PhD, RD

HuiChuan Lai, PhD, RD, professor, Nutritional Sciences, Pediatrics, and Population Health Sciences, and a team of researchers were awarded a one-year supplement in the amount of $177,098 from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to her R01 Research Grant, “Early childhood diet, growth, gut microbiome and lung health in cystic fibrosis.” Additional members of the research team include investigators at Medical College of Wisconsin, University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, and Indiana University, along with Co-Investigators Michael Rock, MD, professor and interim division chief, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, and Philip M. Farrell, MD, PhD, emeritus professor, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. This supplement will allow for acceleration of study activities that were halted or significantly delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions, and it will help finalize the study activities and data collection of the original R01 in preparation for a competitive renewal submission to be submitted in late 2021. Read more about the study.
