Congratulations to Leslie Riopel, MD, Matthew Szadkowski, MD, and the Pediatric Global Health Track members, under the mentorship of Sabrina Wagner, MD, for their recent American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) CATCH award. They received $3,000 in funding for their project, “Improving Health Literacy for Local Bhutanese.” During the first year of the UW Pediatric Global Health Track, the residents have decided to focus their attention on a local group of Bhutanese refugees in the Madison area. They have worked with local non-profit organizations as well as branches of government with the goal of helping the Bhutanese live healthy lifestyles in our community.
