Anne O’Kane, RN, a pediatric trach coordinator at UW Health who works closely with the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, was awarded a $5,000 grant from Cars Curing Kids to support parents and caregivers of children with tracheostomies. Parents and caregivers of children with tracheostomies need to carry a bag containing the child’s emergency equipment and supplies with them at all times, and some of the supplies needed are not provided by the hospital or covered by insurance. The objective of this project is to purchase those supplies and assemble go bags, helping to ease the burden on families. This project will support the needs of these children for several years.
