The American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene’s Committee on Global Health (ACGH) recently awarded Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellow, Danièle Gusland, MD, their 2019 Research Award. This is $2,000 award will be used to defray costs for supplies for her etiology and antimicrobial resistance patterns of neonatal sepsis in Jimma, Ethiopia project. Under the mentorship of James Conway, MD, she aims to help guide the local antibiotic stewardship initiative in developing an antibiogram and empiric antibiotic protocol based on results, as well as to evaluate baseline morbidity and mortality outcomes data.
