Brian Williams, MD, was recently awarded the 2019 Richmond Center New Investigator Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence. This one-year, $12,000 grant, given to one awardee annually, is for his project entitled, “Smoke Exposure Disclosure: Parent Perspectives of Screening.” The objective of this proposed study is to identify factors that influence parent disclosure of smoke exposure (second or thirdhand) when screened during their child’s hospitalization, with the long-term goal of improving the sensitivity of tobacco screening in order to identify and intervene with smokers and decrease pediatric tobacco smoke exposure. During the project, he will be mentored by Michelle Kelly, MD. Congratulations, Brian!
