Courtney Gaberino, MD, clinical instructor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology and a member of the Jackson Research Group, recently attended the 20th Annual Respiratory Disease Young Investigators’ Forum in Denver, Colorado, where she received first place for her work entitled, “Dysregulation of Airway and Systemic Interferon Responses Promote Asthma Exacerbations in Urban Children.” Gaberino’s project was completed in the Childhood Asthma in Urban Settings Network under the mentorship of Daniel Jackson, MD, professor, Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology. The Respiratory Disease Young Investigators’ Forum is a research and career mentorship opportunity for about 30 fellows and early career faculty in pulmonology, critical care, and allergy/immunology. The forum fosters connections among young investigators and expert faculty in the respiratory disease field. During the conference, the attendees each present their scientific research, and awards are distributed based on research material, presentation delivery, and responses to expert and audience questions.
