Anna Huttenlocher, MD, professor, Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology, is the recipient of an over $3.3 million Maximizing Investigator Research Award, or MIRA, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) / National Institute of General Medical Sciences to further research on how inflammation resolves and tissues are repaired in the context of human health and disease. The competitive $3.3 million renewal will fund years six through 10 of her project, “Cell migration and wound repair.” Her research aims to uncover mechanisms of cell migration within tissues, the signaling networks that regulate these processes, and how they are integrated during wound healing. Huttenlocher’s work could impact the understanding and treatment of autoimmune disease, diabetic and other chronic wounds, cancer, and immune deficiency disorders.
