Taylor House, MD, assistant professor, Division of Nephrology, received a K23 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in the amount of $964,986 for her project, “Development of a Care Engagement Intervention for Adolescent and Young Adult Kidney Transplant Recipients to Enhance Engagement and Improve Outcomes.” This project focuses on developing a novel care engagement intervention tailored to help adolescent and young adult recipients articulate, assert, and regularly negotiate their priorities. With direct involvement of patients, parents, and clinicians, House will assess the novel intervention through a multisite pilot randomized controlled trial. Ultimately, she plans to test the hypothesis that the intervention will improve kidney transplant recipients’ ability to engage in care, in turn, improving health behaviors like medication adherence and health outcomes such as transplant survival. This five-year award began on August 1, 2026.
