Professional Activities

Dr. Kristin Shadman is professor (CHS) and medical director and director of quality in the Division of Hospital Medicine and Complex Care. She also serves as the medical director of the P5 general care unit at the American Family Children’s Hospital and the director of quality improvement (QI) scholarship in the Department of Pediatrics. Shadman has a strong track record of disseminating innovative QI and clinical work through high impact presentations and publications and serves on the editorial board of Hospital Pediatrics. She is a highly sought mentor who helps others develop their QI skills and promote dissemination of scholarly work. Shadman served on multiple national expert working groups through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). As Academic Pediatric Association’s (APA) quality scholars faculty, she guides other pediatricians across the country to develop and disseminate their own QI skills to further promote safe and effective patient care.

Research Interests

Shadman’s primary focus is systematically improving the care of hospitalized children using QI methodology for clinical conditions, such as bronchiolitis, asthma, eating disorders, and infant safe sleep.
