Our Research
Our interdisciplinary team focuses on the following core areas:
- Leveraging big datasets to ask important clinical and health services questions,
- Developing innovative tools and technologies to improve communication and partnerships with patients and families,
- Testing cutting-edge interventions to improve pediatric health systems and care delivery, and
- Maintaining rich community partnerships, locally, nationally and internationally.
Methods
We use mixed methods to conduct innovative, single and multi-center studies, including:
- Clinical trials,
- Observational and quasi-experimental studies,
- Quality improvement initiatives, and
- Qualitative research (focus groups, key-informant interviews, expert consensus).
Infrastructure
Our program supports a diverse research portfolio through:
- Project management, research, and biostatistical staff,
- Secondary data analysis and manuscript writing groups, and
- Maintenance of national and state-based datasets, such as the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Kids’ Inpatient Database, Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, and National Survey of Children’s Health, among others.
