Congratulations to Yury Bochkov, PhD, for his recent one-year subaward from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). This subaward to U19-grant “Airway Inflammation and Airway Remodeling,” from the National Institutes of Health/National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH/NIAID) and under UCSD Principal Investigator, David Broide, MB ChB, will provide $67,760 to Dr. Bochkov’s team. In this new project entitled, “Generation of a Mouse Model for RV-C Infection,” Dr. Bochkov and his team will supply wild-type (C529) and asthma-risk (rs6967330, Y529) variants of hCDHR3, generate Rhinovirus-C (RV-C) preps from cloned human isolates by reverse genetics, provide mAbs specific for RV-C15, and perform experiments to adapt wild-type clinical isolates for efficient replication in epithelial cells from the Rosa-hCDHR3LSL mice.
