Xin He awarded fellowship from Cancer Research Institute

Congratulations to Xin He, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, Infectious Diseases, who was recently named a Cancer Research Institute Irvington Fellow by the Cancer Research Institute. His project, “Immunogenetics, cancer and IL-6 gene regulation by a long non-coding RN,” proposes two aims that will uncover the poorly understood mechanism of action of IL6-AS1 in regulating IL-6 gene expression and decipher how IL6-AS1 polymorphisms in the Hmong population alter the function of IL6-AS1 and expression of IL-6. During this three-year, $186,000 fellowship, He will be mentored by Bruce Klein, MD, professor and division chief, Infectious Diseases.
