Professional Activities

Dr. Karen Pletta is clinical professor in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM). She is also the director of Quality Improvement for GPAM and supports quality projects for providers and quality initiatives across the division. Pletta has been honored with several awards including GPAM Quality Metric Awards, Department of Pediatrics teaching awards, and UW Health Patient Experience Physician Champion Awards.

Clinical Interests

Pletta provides comprehensive pediatric care to patients from birth through young adulthood. She works together with families and patients for well-child visits and common pediatric concerns from ear infections to injuries and management of issues such as asthma, eczema, and ADHD. Pletta’s holistic approach is to promote both physical and mental well-being for every child.  She enjoys working together as a team with families and patients for pediatric care to foster happiness and long-term health.

Research Interests

Pletta is a professor of pediatrics collaborating for primary care pediatric research and investigating programs that promote best health outcomes for children and adolescents.
