Professional Activities
Dr. M. Tracy Bekx is professor (CHS) in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes. She serves as the medical director of the Pediatric Diabetes Program and co-director of the Adolescent Multidisciplinary Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Clinic. In addition, Bekx is a member of the Wisconsin Diabetes Advisory Group (DAG) and works with team members on the Type One (T1) Exchange Quality Improvement team.
Clinical Interests
Bekx is a pediatric endocrinologist who cares for children with all types of diabetes and endocrine diseases. Her interests include improving care for pediatric patients with T1 diabetes. In this work, she focuses on preparing children and adolescents to manage their disease independently and aims to smooth the transition from pediatric to adult care. In addition, Bekx cares for adolescents with PCOS in the Multidisciplinary PCOS clinic.
Research Interests
Bekx leads research and quality improvement projects to foster better pediatric diabetes transition of care. In addition, she aims to incorporate new processes for management of diabetic ketoacidosis and expand the use of technology for those with diabetes. In addition, Bekx is interested in the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pediatric diabetes.
