Professional Activities

Dr. Nicole Baumann-Blackmore is a clinical professor in the Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery. She serves on the Department of Pediatrics Promotions Oversight and Advisory Committee where she represents faculty on the clinician-teacher track. Additionally, Baumann-Blackmore is a member of the Unity Point Health–Meriter Hospital’s Nursery Committee, Newborn Clinical Consortium, and Clinical Standardization Group. Baumann-Blackmore enjoys resident education; she developed a breastfeeding medicine elective for pediatrics residents. She has been honored twice with a Department of Pediatrics Top Teacher award.  

Clinical Interests

Baumann-Blackmore is a pediatrician with clinical interests in breastfeeding medicine and quality improvement (QI) in the newborn nursery. She participates in QI projects and reviews instances of NICU readmission to provide the best possible care for each neonate. Baumann-Blackmore became a board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) in 2015 and uses these skills in the newborn nursery to optimize breastfeeding outcomes for neonates and their families.
