Professional Activities
Dr. Enes Akyuz is scientist I in the Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery. Originally a physics graduate, Akyuz has a PhD in Biophysics, furthering his studies by investigating the electrical activity of ion channels. After working as an assistant professor in Turkiye for five years, Akyuz came to the US as a scientist. In September 2024, Akyuz was awarded the best young researcher award in physics in Turkiye.
Research Interests
Akyuz continues his work with improving electrical activity after the treatment of gene mutations encoding the ion channel that cause congenital blindness. He does research on the function and expression of ion channels using patch-clamp electrophysiology and confocal microscope imaging, respectively.
