Sima Ramratnam awarded K08 award to study preschool-onset asthma

Sima Ramratnam, MD, MPH, associate professor, Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology, was awarded a five-year grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in the amount of $881,055. This K08 Career Development Award will provide salary support and protected research time for Ramratnam and funding for her project,“Interactions Between Genetics, Air Pollution, and Preschool-Onset Childhood Asthma.” The project is designed to identify genetic variants related to preschool-onset asthma and evaluate gene-by-air pollution interactions contributing to disparities in preschool-onset asthma. The funding began in August of this year and will end on May 31, 2030.
