The Department of Pediatrics provides learning opportunities to students interested in careers in health care administration, human resources, communications, research, and other professions. Internships and other positions are designed to help students gain experience in their field, learn how to work as part of a team, and build skills in analytical thinking, organization, and time management.

Health Care Administration Graduate Program Intern
The Health Care Administration Intern position is open to students currently enrolled in a graduate health care administration program. Interns report to the Department Administrator and support the department’s efforts to develop administrative efficiencies with innovation. Projects may include supporting faculty in establishing new research programs, writing progress and final reports, and developing department policies and SOPs. The application process for this summer paid internship opens each year on February 1. Students interested in this position may contact Julene Gaspard.
Human Resources Graduate Project Assistant
The HR Project Assistant supports the Department of Pediatrics HR team and department leadership with the development, execution, and assessment of HR-related projects in a variety of functional areas such as performance management, compensation, and hiring and recruitment. This position is a graduate assistant position that comes with tuition remission, salary, and benefits. The internship is open to students in the Strategic Human Resource Management Center in the Wisconsin School of Business. Students interested in this position may contact Julene Gaspard.
Communications Digital Intern
The Communications Digital Intern supports the Department of Pediatrics communications team with writing and graphic design support for the department website, social media accounts, and e-newsletters. Graduate Medical Education Intern
The Graduate Medical Education Intern provides administrative, curriculum and general program support to the Pediatric Residency Program Director, Manager, and Coordinator. GPAM Research Internship
The General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM) Research Intern Team is a group of undergraduate research interns who support faculty members in various steps of the research process. Training is provided. Any GPAM faculty may collaborate with the team on their academic work, on either short- or long-term projects. Undergraduate students interested in working with the team may contact Brad Kerr.
Student Administrative Assistants
The Department of Pediatrics employs several student office assistants who work on a wide range of administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, scanning, copying, resident attendance tracking in MedHub, and mail sorting and distribution.
