Title: You Want Me To Do What? Providing Credible and Trustworthy Clinical Assessments of Learners
Session Overview:
Have you ever struggled to meet your clerkship or residency director’s requests for clinical assessments? Despite our best intentions as educators, sometimes clinical assessment feels like one more task on an already too long list. By the end of this session, you will be reminded of the philosophy behind workplace-based assessments in order to focus on the facilitators and barriers to providing credible and trustworthy clinical learner assessment.
By the end of this grand rounds, participants will review the philosophy underpinning workplace-based assessments. This background will ground the discussion of facilitators and barriers to providing credible and trustworthy learner assessments.

Series Overview: Pediatric Grand Rounds is a weekly multidisciplinary and interprofessional conference designed to improve a participant’s ability to practice pediatric medicine, including patient care, conducting healthcare research, providing medical education, addressing public health, and implementing innovation.
Target Audience: MD/DO, RN, APRN, Residents, Fellows, and other Trainees.

- Identify state of the art, evidence-based practices for prevention, diagnosis and treatment in pediatric medicine
- Analyze issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice relevant to pediatric care
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other health care professionals, community members and families to advocate for the health care needs of children
- Describe new scientific advances and trends in pediatric medicine that may be translatable and impact future patient care
- Identify roles and responsibilities as part of a healthcare team that functions in value-driven, ethical environments
