Robert Lemanske, MD and Xin Sun, PhD, from the Department of Genetics, received funding of $350,000/year for 5 years from the National Institutes of Health for their project, “Investigating Effects of Viral Infection of Lung Development.” This project will use animal and human models to investigate interactive effects of respiratory virus infections and host genetic factors on the developing lung, with the goal of increasing our ability to predict, prevent and treat recurrent wheezing and childhood asthma.
