Alumni Network

The Department of Pediatrics Alumni Network connects former students, residents, fellows, and faculty with current members of the department and other alumni. We hope the network fosters a sense of community and provides opportunities for members to participate in networking, professional development, career support, social engagement, and giving back.

Train the Next Generation

Become a Madison-area preceptor

Host medical students in your Madison-area clinic and help them learn about the field of pediatrics. If you would like to become a preceptor to SMPH medical students, complete the Teaching Availability online form. Community clinicians volunteer their time and expertise to train and mentor medical students through clinical adjunct faculty positions. They provide MD students with real-life experiences and help them develop skills in doctor-patient communication, physical examinations, and so much more. Learn about the benefits of being a clinical adjunct track faculty member at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Support medical students statewide

Alumni volunteers help strengthen the school and enhance the educational experience for students at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. You can support student learners by interviewing prospective students, hosting a student for a four-week Ambulatory Acting Internship or the three-semester Phase 1 Preceptor Program, or mentoring students through the Student–Alumni Partnership Program. Learn more about these opportunities on the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association website.

Become a Rural Pediatrics residency rotation preceptor

Each year, residents interested in future rural practice spend time at sites across Wisconsin learning about the unique opportunities and challenges that come with caring for children in rural communities. The Pediatrics Residency Program is always looking for pediatricians to host trainee physicians for 3- or 4-week grant-funded rotations. Email Brittany Loughman, residency program manager, for more information.
