Kristin Shadman, MD, professor, Division of Hospital Medicine and Complex Care, has been appointed director of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars (QSIS) Program as it launches its fifth national cohort. In this role, Shadman leads a highly selective, three-year national faculty development program designed to equip pediatric academic leaders with advanced expertise in quality improvement and patient safety science. Scholars are paired with local and national mentors and supported through the completion of a rigorous mentored scholarly project addressing critical quality or safety challenges, each culminating in a national-level capstone presentation or publication. Shadman and the current QSIS cohort were hosted at the APA Quality Improvement Science Conference in Boston on April 24, held in conjunction with the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting. Also representing Wisconsin in the current cohort is Elizabeth Mann, MD, assistant professor, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes, who is participating as a QSIS scholar in the program’s ongoing national cohort.
