The Meriter Foundation awarded Jingshing Wu, MD, PhD, assistant professor, Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery, a $50,000 grant for her project, “Molecular Regulation of Postnatal Cardiovascular Function in Premature Birth.” This project, which began January 1 of this year and will continue through July 2028, will develop an animal model of premature birth with long-term survival using piglets. Results from this study will improve our understanding of how premature birth impacts postnatal cardiovascular maturation and leads to long-term cardiovascular disease.
