Anthony (Tony) Garcia-Prats awarded U01 grant from NIH

Headshot of Dr. Tony Garcia-Prats.Anthony (Tony) Garcia-Prats, MD, MSc, PhD, associate professor, Divisions of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and Global Pediatrics, was awarded a five-year U01 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the amount of $6,567,448. His project, “Re-evaluating the Duration in Children of TB Treatment (REDUCE TB): A Phase 2 Duration Randomized Trial,” plans to characterize the relationship between tuberculosis (TB) treatment duration and the proportion of participants with favorable treatment outcomes, safety, tolerability, and acceptability of an optimized-dose rifampicin-containing regimen among children with drug-susceptible TB with and without HIV. This grant began in September 2025 and will continue through August 2030.
