Professional Activities

Dr. Carey Wagoner is assistant professor (CHS) in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. He is a pediatrician with a strong focus on health professions education, clinical leadership, and patient-centered care. He has served in local and national leadership roles, including as a chief resident and as co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Section on e-Learning. Wagoner’s work spans urgent care, orthopedic collaboration, and acute care access, with a commitment to advancing equitable care. In addition, he is pursuing a master’s degree in health professions education so he can further support the development of future clinicians.

Clinical Interests

Wagoner’s clinical interests include improving access to acute care for pediatric patients and enhancing the integration of subspecialty and primary care services. He is particularly focused on the delivery of high-quality, efficient care in urgent care and orthopedic collaborative settings.

Research Interests

Wagoner’s research interests center on health professions education, particularly in the areas of curriculum design and faculty development. As co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Section on e-Learning, he is especially interested in how technology can enhance clinical training and knowledge dissemination. In addition, Wagoner maintains a focus on improving musculoskeletal education by developing resources and training experiences that equip trainees and faculty with the skills to  confidently perform pediatric musculoskeletal evaluations.
