Professional Activities
Dr. Samantha Schwartz is assistant professor (CHS) in the Division of Nephrology. She participated in the NIH-supported Consensus Workshop to Address Kidney Health in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Graduates, which resulted in the publication of a consensus statement providing recommendations for kidney health monitoring for neonatal intensive care unit graduates.
Clinical Interests
Schwartz enjoys caring for patients from across the spectrum of kidney disease. Her clinical expertise focuses on neonatal nephrology and the care of neonates and infants with kidney disease. Schwartz is also passionate about supporting patients requiring both acute and chronic renal replacement therapy.
Research Interests
Schwartz’s research focuses on neonatal nephrology and the provision of renal replacement therapy in our smallest patient population. She is passionate about the impact of fluid accumulation and acute kidney injury on outcomes. She is studying the impact of fluid accumulation on infants with necrotizing enterocolitis. Schwartz is actively involved in the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative on several committees.
