Professional Activities

Dr. Norell Rosado is professor (CHS) and chief in the Division of Child Protection and member of the Division of Global Pediatrics. He currently serves on the Child Abuse Subboard of the American Board of Pediatrics, helping to shape national standards for certification in the field. His prior national leadership includes serving on the Executive Committee of the AAP Council on Child Abuse and Neglect and as a founding co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Helfer Society. His work is dedicated to building effective, equitable systems for child protection and mentoring the next generation of experts.

Clinical Interests

Rosado is a child abuse pediatrician focused on the forensic medical education of suspected maltreatment, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and trafficking. He has a deep commitment to caring for vulnerable immigrant and refugee children, which led him to co-found the Forensic Assessment for Immigration Relief (FAIR) Clinic. His clinical work is based on a precise, evidence-based approach to diagnosis and a trauma-informed model of care.

Research Interests

Rosado’s scholarly mission is to translate knowledge into practice and policy to protect children globally. He founded COLAVI (Colaboración Latinoamericana Contra la Violencia Infantil), an initiative developing personalized child protection programs across Latin America and the Caribbean through international collaboration. His applied research interests include injury biomechanics, improving forensic evaluations for asylum seekers, and developing interdisciplinary models for child protection systems.
